Climate Action

As part of a newly released Sustainability strategy, Camlin CEO Peter Cunningham announced the launch of a Climate Action project in partnership with 3Keel, the Oxford UK based sustainability consultancy. Speaking after the announcement, Mr. Cunningham stated, ‘We are excited to be working with the highly experienced 3Keel team to help guide us in better understanding what our environmental impact across Camlin currently is and helping us to develop a roadmap towards change. This is a crucial activity as we take strides in committing to a decarbonised future, both internally across our business activities, and through our portfolio of services and solutions that support the transition to greener energy systems.’

Richard Sheane, 3keel partner and project lead says, ‘We look forward to working with Camlin as we support them to build a clear understanding of their emissions ‘hotspots’ across their business and help them shape their strategic approach to climate change and meeting Science Based Targets into the future.’

The project will run over the next 6 months and has 3 distinct phases. Developing a base year carbon footprint across Camlin Group will see us understand our key emissions from across our business and value chains, from the goods and services we purchase, to energy used in our own buildings and the downstream emissions associated with how our products and services are used and disposed of. Phase 2 will focus on setting reduction targets and getting these science-based targets officially validated by the Science-Based Targets initiative. Lastly, phase 3 will focus on future planning and reduction opportunities and strategies as well as data management and reporting.

Peter Cunningham emphasizes the importance of embedding a clear environmental mindset across Camlin moving froward and ensuring we are part of a post COVID Green Recovery, ‘We will be investing heavily in this over the coming months and years, this is very much the first step in an exciting and ambitious journey, making sure we fulfil our sustainability commitments for our people, our customers, our communities and wider global stakeholders’.
