Camlin Energy partners with Vattenfall Renewables UK to deploy TOTUS transformer monitoring solution
Camlin Energy is pleased to announce a new partnership with Vattenfall Renewables to deploy our advanced TOTUS transformer monitoring solution within their UK renewable energy portfolio. The deployment is part of a recently awarded tender, incorporating five years of support, maintenance and training, reinforcing Vattenfall’s commitment to asset health and operational excellence across its renewable fleet.
TOTUS will provide continuous monitoring of a critical offshore transformer that supplies power from 11 turbines rated at 8.8MW each. This transformer represents a key point of dependency within the site, where any unplanned outage has the potential to interrupt significant generation capacity and impact revenue.
Andrew Frankland, HV specialist UK, Vattenfall Renewables said: “Vattenfall are very excited to finally have a framework agreement with Camlin Energy, and the up-coming install of the TOTUS system at Vattenfall’s substation Aberdeen Bay. During the process Camlin Energy have provided outstanding technical support, system expertise, and solutions for our Grid Transformer, I am looking forward to developing a business friendship with a mutual professionalism towards system safety.
“Barry Forster and the team have demonstrated extensive knowledge throughout our acquisition of the Transformer monitoring system, and I feel this will have a hugely positive impact for Vattenfall, providing a modern approach to the health and monitoring of our assets. We look forward to continuing work with Camlin Energy on future projects, may it extend many years”.
As part of the agreement, Camlin Energy will supply and install TOTUS® hardware and associated services, with initial installations scheduled to take place in Q2 2026. The deployment will support offshore wind assets, enhancing asset visibility, reliability, and long-term performance on the site.
TOTUS® provides continuous, real-time monitoring of transformers, delivering actionable insights that enable predictive maintenance, reduce unplanned outages, and extend asset lifetime -key priorities for renewable operators managing increasingly critical infrastructure.
Discussing the new contract with Vattenfall Renewables, Barry Forster, Commercial Director Renewables, Camlin Energy said: “We’re delighted to be working on this installation, which builds on our wider relationship and reflects the trust Vattenfall places in TOTUS® as a proven transformer monitoring solution for wind assets. It marks an important step in our continued collaboration, and we see it as the first of many opportunities to further support asset performance, reliability, and long-term value across their renewable portfolio.”
Camlin Energy continues to strengthen its position as a trusted technology partner for the global renewable energy sector, delivering intelligent monitoring solutions that support the energy transition.
