Product overview
Key features
Innovative first trip profiling
Captures the critical first trip of a live breaker, showing how it will perform under real-world fault conditions.
On-site graphical diagnostics
Detect hidden issues with enhanced onsite testing, including graphical comparison of up to four operation records.
Efficient multi-shot mode
Quickly re-arms to capture multiple breaker operations, ideal for monitoring faults or SCADA-triggered events.
Automated comparison
Provides pass/fail status by checking Buffer, Acon, Mcon values across trips against user-set tolerances.
First-trip profiling with Profile P3
First trip profiling gives asset managers a more accurate picture of circuit breaker condition by capturing the very first trip operation, as the one most likely to reveal hidden defects. When a circuit breaker remains idle for long periods, issues like dried-out lubrication or coil deterioration may not show up during standard timing tests, which often miss problems that are temporarily cleared after initial movement.
By monitoring the trip coil current, DC voltage, and main contact timing, first trip profiling with Profile P3 identifies subtle deviations from a healthy operating “signature.”
This non-invasive technique connects to live breakers in minutes, helping pinpoint mechanical or electrical issues before they lead to delayed trips, costly outages, or safety risks.
Benefits of Profile P3
Reduced costs
Supports cost-effective, condition-based maintenance strategies for asset managers through accurate circuit breaker testing and assessment.
Visual profiling
Enables rapid onsite analysis of circuit breaker defects by comparing first trip or close profile with subsequent circuit breaker operations.
Reduced penalties
Pre-empt problems that risk supply loss, equipment damage and potential penalties due to Customer Interruptions (CI) and Customer Minutes Lost (CML).
Extended asset life
Quick and simple trending of circuit breaker key parameters allows operators to anticipate maintenance requirements and extend asset life.
Customer spotlight: Ventus Energy
Ventus Energy and Camlin Energy are working together to increase wind farm reliability through circuit breaker testing on Offshore wind farms.
Camlin Energy recently collaborated with Ventus Energy, a prominent Operations & Maintenance (O&M) services provider in the offshore industry.
This partnership enabled Camlin Energy to integrate first trip profiling into Ventus Energy’s maintenance program for offshore projects, utilising our Profile P3 technology. Implementing this approach enabled Ventus Energy to proactively detect potential defects, allowing them to facilitate repairs during planned outages. Enhancing their overall proactive maintenance strategy.
Why circuit breaker health matters
When all else fails, your circuit breaker is the last line of defence for the electrical grid. A slow or failed breaker can lead to safety risks, equipment damage, and costly downtime.
