Pantograph Monitoring System - Panvue

PanVue

Pantograph condition directly affects network reliability. An industry-first system, PanVue operates continuously in-service, replacing periodic manual inspection and supporting predictive maintenance while protecting overhead line infrastructure and reducing operational risk.

How PanVue Transforms Pantograph Inspection

Traditional pantograph inspection relies on manual checks carried out at fixed intervals. This limits visibility between inspections, places pressure on depots, and increases the risk of in-service failure. Using a fully automated stereo vision system, PanVue monitors pantograph–catenary interaction during normal operation, identifying wear, misalignment, and emerging faults as they develop. This allows maintenance activity to be planned around actual asset condition, reducing disruption, improving safety, and supporting consistent infrastructure protection across the fleet.

Pantograph Monitoring that Enables Real-Time Reliability

From inspecting every 10 weeks, to 10 times a day

KeolisAmey Metrolink replaced infrequent manual pantograph inspections with continuous, real-time monitoring using PanVue. This shift enabled earlier identification of assets at risk and timely intervention before failure—improving maintenance planning and protecting service performance.

“Since installing PanVue, KAM has seen the positive impact by already identifying trams that need to be withdrawn from service with issues. The effectiveness of Camlin’s technology has already been proven.”Bilal Mohamed, Engineering Director, KeolisAmey Metrolink
